my white room

i never saw a moor—
i never saw the sea—
yet know i how the heather looks
and what a billow be.

and new
houses on the rock

even two of them
for friends, dark ones
all this reminds me
about one article i once
found in national geografic,
august 1938

its anna and her family how
lived alone on an island,
she enjoyed having tea with
her friends the spiny lobster and baby hawk.

it seems summer came in
washing windows, light till ten
getting glass house for plants

and one project
for you,

  3. Oh to be Anna living on that island! I keep my little stone house on my desk every day to remind me of a peaceful place when I'm stressed or tired. Your work is beautiful and elemental Olga.
