my white room

i never saw a moor—
i never saw the sea—
yet know i how the heather looks
and what a billow be.

i wanted to show you one thing i made
inspired by hwasoon, her morning calm
light and tiny letters i find on every soap
bar or the note she left for me.

this is a bamboo charcoal one,
makes my hands and face dark first
then leaves with smell of rainy forest,
clear and clean by the end. i like it so much

these are small round glass beads,
uneven and rought on the edges,
nearly hundred years back people
would sew them on the dress, near
cuffs and neck or lined up around
neckline, collar to keep it dense,

so i string them on thin dark wire
with clasp, it goes right near neck
close and invisible as i tried it on
