my white room

i never saw a moor—
i never saw the sea—
yet know i how the heather looks
and what a billow be.

11/17/12

mom and dad walk around our lake
house to pick up all the wild herbs
and flowers, now, months later, my
summer green tea

five days ago i put in the soil
two tulip bulbs and look at them,
maybe they will bloom on the first
day of winter, on my day

it fills my heart -

'friends', watercolor
for little postcard
